The Place Where We Learn...

At Sunshine Heights Primary School we are committed to ensuring that every space at the school has the potential to support every students academic, social and emotional development. We recognise the important role that the areas outside the classroom environment play in enhancing a student's ability to develop their imagination, creativity and social skills/awareness.

As a school community we are extremely lucky to have large outdoor play areas that include:

  • Three Adventure playgrounds
  • Two Sandpits
  • Two Tennis Courts
  • Two Basketball Courts
  • Hopscotch areas
  • Large ball game areas
  • Football field
  • Numerous relaxation/quiet grassed areas
  • Our own 'Enchanted Woods'
  • Outdoor 'Art Gallery'

Students also have the opportunity to work together in our new school gym that includes:

  • Canteen
  • Gym
  • Music room
  • Inspirational Art room

Sunshine Heights Primary School has also established a Professional Learning Centre that is used by teachers in the Sunshine - Deer Park Network and expert educational consultants that work together to provide exceptional learning opportunities for students. Having this resource located at the school ensures that staff at Sunshine Heights Primary School have immediate access to experts in teaching practices and social/emotional learning. This ensures that the learning and social/emotional programs offered at Sunshine Heights Primary School are continually up-to-date and based on current research.

In recent years the school has been successful in achieving grants for synthetic grass, tanks and solar panels.

Over the coming years we are looking at creating a 'Community Musical Garden' and outdoor Art space that will include the largest blackboard in Victoria.
